Final Post

Okay, what I learned from Google Project. The Google Project gave me time to work on something that I had wanted to do for an extremely long time. Google days were probably some of my favorite days because everything that we did was for our own benefit. I connected better with some people while we worked together and I feel like I learned something that I probably would not have gotten around to learning. I would push for more Google projects like this one because that is the best way to learn out music. When you learn something on your own you feel like you have accomplished much more than if someone else taught you what you learned. I give the Google Project a major two thumbs up!

P.S. ~ I did play my song live, and it didn't go as badly as I was fearing. Yay for not being all that technologically advanced!

Tomorrow!

Okay, so I'm not doing an audio for my Google project. I've decided to swallow my fear and get up in front of the class and play/sing my song. My chord breaks aren't as good as someone who has been playing a long time, but I did just learn a new way to finger the C chord in a way that is so much easier to use! Tomorrow is my final project presentation, if we get to me in that time.

Extremely late update!

Okay, again, I am very very sorry for the late update. "Good Riddance" is going well, and that is what I'm going to be playing/singing for our final google project. I'm doing it as an audio, so please excuse the singing. I wanted to learn acoustic guitar, and that isn't much fun to listen to without someone singing with it. Sorry again for the late an inconsistent posts!

Almost got a song down!

Today, I came home and started playing my guitar. I printed out a chord sheet and the song "Good Riddance - The Time of Your Life" by Green Day. I've basically got the entire song down. The only things that I need to work on are switching between chords in tempo with the song. I plan to have the song down by the end of this week, and start on a new song this weekend. I might be putting up audio of me playing the guitar when I've got it perfect, so stay tuned for that!
P.S. My friend lent me his guitar until I find time to get new guitar strings. Thank you Luke!

Sorry fo the late post!

Okay, the last Google day was last week and I'm sorry for getting back so late. But that Google day was great. I learned and was able to play well the G, C, and D chords. With those chords, I can now play a new song. I haven't played any songs that I want to perform yet, but since my cross country season is ending tomorrow, I'll have a lot more time to practice. Can't wait to learn some more chords and songs!

Time to Uncover Some Difficulties...

I've encountered my first major difficulty with this project. Namely, my guitar. The guitar is too old, or the strings are too old, for me to get it in tune, so I'm going to have to take it in to a music store to get it fixed. That leaves me with a bit of a problem. Until I have the guitar fixed, I can't practice. To get around that problem, I'm learning chords. Figuring out how the chord tabs work, and how to get my fingers on the board. A couple of weeks in, and I'm still learning chords. Don't worry, songs will come soon!

First Post!

Hi everybody!
I'm Kaitlyn, and today was the first day of the Google 20% project that the band program at my school is doing. For my project, I'm learning how to play the guitar and then I'll probably do a duet with one of my friends who is also playing the guitar. Today was fairly easy, I got my very old guitar mostly in tune and I learned to play a couple of chords. Can't wait to actually learn some songs!
